Climate and Weather

Yes, it snows in Buffalo, but we know how to deal with it. Most importantly, we know how to have fun in it. Whether we're hitting the ski slopes south of the city, ice skating downtown at Rotary Rink, or making snow sculptures in a neighborhood park, in Buffalo we've turned winter into an art form. And to keep the chill from getting you down, we've got you covered: the major academic buildings on UB's North Campus are completely connected by indoor walkways.

Contrary to what the rest of the world seems to think, Buffalo does have three other seasons. Spring is short, but very pleasant. Our summers are probably the best around, with more sun than anywhere in the eastern U.S. north of Atlanta. And in fall, the foliage in Western New York is a riot of color. Each season, there are outdoor activities for every taste - boating, hiking, camping, and, yes, skiing can all be found within an hour's drive of UB.
