Chinese Minor
*Not a baccalaureate degree program
Chinese culture is one of the world’s oldest civilizations. At the same time, Chinese culture has been constantly changing and transforming to become an important player in the twenty-first century. Mandarin Chinese, or Putonghua, the official dialect of Chinese, is spoken and used in social media in the People’s Republic of China, Taiwan, Singapore, and around the world.
The UB Chinese minor curriculum provides a solid foundation for understanding and appreciating the richness and diversity of premodern and modern Chinese culture. UB Chinese language and culture courses aim to equip students who are preparing for postgraduate research and careers in Chinese studies and Asian studies research, education, foreign policy, communications, media, and international business in the United States and abroad.
