Computer Science BA

Computer Science is a diverse and ubiquitous field, touching people's lives in many ways. UB offers BA, BS, and BS/MS degree options for Computer Science. The BA Computer Science program at UB offers students a solid foundation in software development, computer science theory and systems, and offers students the flexibility to complement their core computer science curriculum with a specialization outside Computer Science through an external concentration from the College of Arts and Sciences. Outside the classroom setting students can join student clubs, like the Association for Computing Machinery and Scientista, work as undergraduate teaching assistants, and participate in research projects. Our graduates go on to rewarding careers in industry and pursue graduate degrees.

The curriculum is designed to meet several educational objectives. These program education objectives (PEOs) are broad statements that describe the expected accomplishments of graduates within a few years after graduation. Specific PEOs are that graduates will:

  • work productively as Computer Scientists, including in leadership and supportive roles on diverse teams,
  • communicate effectively,
  • adapt to and shape a rapidly evolving computing landscape,
  • recognize and address societal needs in their professional endeavors, and
  • practice their profession with high regard to legal and ethical responsibilities.
