Health and Human Services BA - Child and Family Studies Concentration/ Social Work MSW
The Health and Human Services BA – Child and Family Studies concentration and the Graduate School of Social Work offer a five-year program leading to the combined bachelor of arts/masters of social work (BA/MSW) degree. In this this unique program students take undergraduate and graduate coursework leading to the BA/MSW degree. Only Health and Human Services-Child and Family Studies majors with junior standing, who have met the minimum admission requirements, are eligible to apply to this competitive program.
Child and Family Studies is one of three concentrations in the Health and Human Services major. It is designed for students with an interest in child development, the social and educational institutions that influence children and families, and the treatments and interventions associated with childhood issues. While in this major, students will examine various social problems, the systems delivering human services to individuals and communities, and the professions and professionals providing services. The curriculum incorporates introductory social science, statistics and research methods, human biology, ethics and specialized courses developed for the Child and Family Studies concentration.
The Health and Human Services-Child and Family Studies undergraduate major is administered by the Social Sciences Interdisciplinary Degree Programs located in 203 Clemens Hall on the North Campus. More information on the undergraduate portion of the BA/MSW may be obtained through their offices.
