The Department of Music offers performers, scholars, and composers a stimulating and exciting environment in which to develop their talents in the performance, creation, and academic study of music. The faculty is comprised of internationally known soloists, ensemble musicians, orchestral players, composers, music theorists, and historical musicologists committed to preparing students for careers in music. Our goal is to provide a diverse array of courses which will help them to build a strong foundation in music.
In addition to offering weekly studio lessons, faculty direct performance initiatives at the University and throughout the local community, providing students with unique performance opportunities in western New York. The department hosts world-renowned visiting artists throughout the year, offering students free admission to a full season of concerts and the opportunity to participate in guest master classes.
The Department of Music hosts over 150 events annually, showcasing internationally recognized visiting artists and lecturers.
